I am very pleased with the job that Dr. Kastning did with this book. As a fan of local history, over the last several years I started to wonder more about the history of the village surrounding Natural Bridge than the bridge itself. I was not disappointed with the material presented here...it is a well-rounded presentation on the geological and historical aspects of the bridge, history of the surrounding village and community, and history of tourism to the area. Great photos of the evolving hotels serving tourists to Natural Bridge. Easter Sunrise Services and after-dark theatrical productions have benefitted from the drama of this magnificent rock formation. The book is a useful read before visiting Natural Bridge.
